Notes

NB: The stars must have all been alignment on Tuesday, which was special in so many ways. We celebrated the joyful news about the birth of Vincent James Silvestri, the first grandchild for Diane and Vinnie; we toasted to Meta on her birthday and to Jeri Stangl as well (in absentia); we luxuriated in the warm glow of a perfectly warm October day on Lois’ deck. There was an essential piece missing, however. Vivian wasn’t able to join us to discuss the book that she had chosen. We all look forward to seeing her next month.

At the meeting: Liz, Janice, Lois, Meta, Sharon, Barbara, Tina, and Marilyn.

Questions and Comments:

Sharon once again generously treated us: perfectly cooked and glazed apple cider cake and cookies plus take-home baggies of biscotti for all. We sang happy birthday to Meta, who had been kind enough to agree to have the meeting on this day even though it was her actual birthday. Lois had small “Give Thanks” pumpkins for all and Janice gave out ones with candies inside.

Next Meeting: All agreed that beginning a meeting at 4:00 p.m. doesn’t eliminate the necessity of driving in the dark. It was decided that starting at 1:00 or 1:30 would be better and holding a monthly meeting each second Tuesday worked for everyone. We’ll be meeting on Tuesday, November 8, 1:30 p.m., at Meta’s house; Tuesday, December 13, at Janice’s; Tuesday, January 10, at Tina’s; Tuesday, February 14, at Barbara’s; and Tuesday, March 14, at Liz’s.

Next Book: Janice’s selection for November is Still on Fire: Field Notes from a Queer Mystic, by Jan Phillips. Lois will choose for December and Meta for January.
